Chasing 99 OVR Yordan Alvarez in MLB The Show 26 can get expensive fast if you treat the collection like a shopping trip. The better approach is to slow down, play through the available content, and let the free rewards do most of the work. The All-Star update gives Diamond Dynasty players several ways to earn useful cards, so there's no real reason to empty your account on day one. If you manage your MLB 26 Stubs carefully, you'll have more room to deal with the cards that refuse to show up in packs.
Build the Collection Through Gameplay
The All-Star collection pulls rewards from more than one programme, which means your progress should come from different parts of Diamond Dynasty. The American League and National League All-Star programmes are a natural place to begin. Their Moments and missions usually hand out several players, packs, XP, and programme progress without requiring a huge time commitment. Knock out the easy Moments early, then use the reward cards while working through the missions. It's a small thing, but using the right players in actual games saves you from repeating the same tasks later.
Keep an eye on the XP Reward Path as well. You don't need to create a separate XP grind for it. XP comes in steadily from Moments, Events, Conquest, Showdown, and ordinary games, so the path will move along while you handle other jobs. Some of its player rewards may count toward the collection and can also fill a weak spot in your lineup. Check your progress after each major reward rather than assuming every card has to be purchased. The game often gives you more help than you expect.
Stack Objectives Instead of Playing on Autopilot
A lot of players waste time by treating every mode as a separate project. There's no need to do that. When an Event lineup includes players from the All-Star content, use those cards and work on their missions during the same games. You'll be earning XP, Event progress, programme stats, and possibly parallel experience all at once. It won't feel dramatic after one match, but the extra progress adds up over a longer session.
This is also where a little planning makes the collection less tiring. Before entering an Event, look at the active missions and note which players or stat types overlap. If a mission asks for hits with a certain team, build around it instead of throwing together a random lineup. You don't have to chase every objective in one sitting. Just avoid playing games that give you nothing beyond a win or loss. Efficient sessions are usually more valuable than long ones.
Use Offline Modes to Fill the Gaps
Conquest deserves attention because it combines short games with packs, hidden rewards, XP, and programme progress. The maps can look like a chore, but they're useful when you need to finish missions without dealing with online opponents. Clear territories while completing team-based tasks, and check the map carefully for hidden packs before moving on. Those small rewards may provide a collection card or at least sellable duplicates.
Showdown is worth playing too, especially when its rewards connect with the current All-Star programme. It has a different rhythm from Conquest, and a good run can provide progress without requiring a full nine-inning game. Don't ignore ordinary missions, either. Review them before starting a session, then choose the mode that lets you complete several at once. Moments, Conquest, Showdown, and Events all have a place here. The trick is choosing the activity that matches the missions you still need.
Wait Before Spending on the Marketplace
Opening packs too early can make your plans messy. It's tempting to buy a missing card as soon as you see the collection screen, but that card might appear in a reward pack later. Finish the All-Star programmes, clear the relevant Conquest content, play through Showdown, and collect the Event rewards before making serious Marketplace decisions. Once the free content is done, check the collection again and write down exactly what's missing. You may find that the gap is much smaller than it looked at launch.
Prices are often inflated when fresh content arrives because everyone wants the reward immediately. As more players earn packs and list duplicates, supply tends to improve. If you're not in a rush, waiting can save a useful amount of currency. If you do decide to spend, buy only the cards that block the collection and compare buy orders with the current sell price. There's little value in paying a premium for cards you can earn through another hour of gameplay. Players who prefer to move faster can also purchase MLB The Show Stubs, but the same rule still applies: know which cards you need before spending.
Final Thoughts
Yordan Alvarez is a strong collection target, but the reward feels much better when you haven't wasted resources getting there. Start with the All-Star programmes, keep XP moving in the background, and stack missions across Events and offline modes. Open the packs you earn, review your inventory, and leave Marketplace purchases until the free rewards have been exhausted. That approach keeps your team improving while protecting your currency, and it makes the final push for 99 OVR Yordan far less stressful with MLB The Show Stubs available if you decide you need a quicker route.
